Aldi Deals 4/6-4/12

Here are the produce deals advertised for the Dallas area this week:

Multi-Colored Bell Peppers   $1.89 for a pack of 3
Tomatoes on the Vine           $0.79 for a 1 lb. package
Pears (D'Anjou and Bosc)    $0.59/lb sold in 2 lb bags for $1.19 each.
California Navel Oranges      $0.35/lb sold in 4lb labgs for $1.39 each.

I'm hoping that the strawberries are still cheap also.  We just ran out this morning. ;)

I have also noticed the milk and eggs slowly creeping up in price and the flour and sugar are higher now also.  I certainly hope that trend stops!

I went to Aldi yesterday to shop (go there for my meats, bread, milk, etc.) and noticed that several items have jumped in price...milk is now 1.49 instead of .99, hamburger meat is 3.39 was 2.99, and pork chops are not 3.49 they were 2.99 also. I haven't bought meat at Krogers in a very long time so not sure what the going price is but this seems pretty high for Aldi, don't you think?

I have always found Aldi's meat pretty high priced, but pretty comparable to the grocery stores. I do think its pretty good quality though and I always look for markdowns when I am in there, but i haven't found any good ones lately. But I think all the prices are slowly creeping up, i think most likely because gas prices are.

If you are looking for cheaper meats in the area I have found some of the best prices at the Hispanic grocery stores (El Rancho, El rio Grande, sometimes Fiesta, but not as often). When there are a few good prices, or a great price on something i really need, I will make a special trip over to one of these stores, and the savings is usually worth it. They have good produce prices too, but the produce quality is pitiful compared to Aldi's in my opinion.

yes, I have found it is hit and miss with Aldi fruits lately so I have been getting it at Kroger (paying cheaper doesn't save me money when I throw away a tub of strawberries because they're mushy or bruised up). When Aldi first opened here in Mansfield their meat prices were pretty cheap, now they are comparable to the big chains. Thanks for the idea about the hispanic grocery stores, haven't thought about that!

You might also try asking at Aldi when they get their truck in. I walked away from some strawberries yesterday because they looked already overripe, but last week I walked in just as they were unloading a new shipment and I got three and none of them went bad before we were able to use them. I've noticed a difference in their produce depending on what day of the week I'm in there. Hope that helps!
