What Is A Coupon?

Let’s start out with a quick one for today--the most basic thing I could think of:  What is a coupon?

The dictionary defines it as:
“a detachable part of a ticket or advertisement entitling the holder to a discount, free gift, etc.”

There are many types of coupons out there that can be used at many different types of establishments (and I will post more about those later on).  For right now let’s focus on coupons for grocery/household items.

This type of coupon is usually a piece of paper that offers a discount on a specified item(s).  It can be used as a form of payment to lower your out of pocket (OOP) expenses at any location that accepts them.   Most major retail chains do accept coupons, but you will have to check with your specific store to find out for sure.

Check back tomorrow to learn where to find coupons!
