Dishing It Up Recipe Hop: Thanksgiving Side Dishes--Roasted Garlic Green Beans

This week my blogger friends and I wish to help you out in planning your Thanksgiving menu.  We are putting together a list of Thanksgiving side dishes for you.  Click on any link in the link-up below to be taken to that post.  If you have any recipes to add, feel free to link those up, too!

The recipe I'm going to share with you is simple yet amazing.  It may not amaze you, but it certainly amazed me!  The reason is because I have never, ever, in my whole life liked green beans.  Every holiday, my mother made her green bean casserole (using canned green beans--the only kind she ever used!).

I've never been a fan of canned vegetables, unless they are being added to soups, which I love.  I will stock up on them when I find a sale on them, and just save them until I make a soup and add whatever I happen to have on hand.

My husband and my girls love green beans though, so I would buy frozen green beans along with my other frozen vegetables that I purchased, and prepare them, but I never ate them.

Then one day I found some green beans incredibly cheap at the farmers market, so I bought some.  We snapped them and blanched them and froze them (I've since made these with fresh green beans and they are amazing, too!).

The first time my husband made these, I had three helpings I loved them so much!  I don't think we've eaten green beans any other way since.  This past week, I made them while my aunt and uncle were visiting, and they loved them, too!

So, here's all you do:

Roasted Garlic Green Beans:

Ingredients:
Fresh/frozen Green Beans (however much you need for your family)
Garlic (I used 1-2tablespoons of minced, but fresh can also be used)
Olive Oil (Just a drizzle in the skillet.  Butter/Margarine could be substituted).
Salt/Pepper to taste

Directions:
Drizzle olive oil/butter into a skillet.  Heat to medium heat.

Add green beans, garlic, and seasonings to skillet.

Heat to desired tenderness, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

See?  So very simple and delicious and nutritious!  You could also add any add-in you'd like, such as almond slivers or onions or bell peppers for added color.
