School Supply Shopping At Walgreens

I've mentioned before that the Walgreens closest to my house is a really bad place to shop with coupons, so I don't very often go there.  After seeing their ad yesterday, though, I felt like I must venture in this week.  No, it wasn't because I saw some outstanding coupon deals that I could not pass up.  Actually, I didn't even use any manufacturer coupons.

What drew me in was that fact that half of my soon to be Kindergartener daughter's school supply list was on in-ad coupon this week for much cheaper than I had seen elsewhere.  (My husband actually got stir crazy one day, so he went to Wal-mart--the other place I can't stand to go--and priced everything.)

Here is what I picked up today.  I had the cashier price the Crayola thin markers, and they rang up $2.  Even though only the thick kind was in the ad, I figured I would get the $2 RR back from these too, since they were priced the same, and I did!  Even more savings!

Transaction 1:  Crayola Fine Tips Markers   Sale $2  (Get back $2 RR)
Paid $2.17 OOP with tax

Transaction 2:
--6 Pocket folders with prongs  @ $0.11 each  (they were not on the seasonal aisle, but in the back where the everyday school supplies are kept.)
--2 2 packs of pink erasers @ $0.29 each with in-ad coupon
--1 Fiskars scissors  @$0.79 with in-ad coupon
--4 Jumbo Glue stick singles @ $0.59 each with in ad-coupon
--3 10 packs of pencils at $0.39 each
--1 pack Bic Highlighters  @ $0.39
--1 pack dry erase markers  @ $0.99 with in-ad coupon

Paid with $2 RR from Transaction 1.
Paid 5.35 OOP with tax.

Total:  $7.52  for   $30.32 worth of items   75% Savings

I also went to the 99Cents Only store and bought the 2 bottles of Hand Sanitizer and the clipboard that she needed for just $0.99 each.

I just have a few more items on my list (I'm having a very hard time finding an 8 ct. box of crayons!).  When I am all done, I will post an update of what I spent compared to what the school wanted to charge me for the pre-packaged pack.

It was a good trip. Walmart is another place I dread, but I figured I would end up having to go there LOL.

Granted, I have three children and waited until the last minute, but I spent $105 at Staples on the school supplies. You are my dream.
