El Rio Grande Trip 12/9
This morning I decided to go ahead and drive my daughter to school (as opposed to waiting in the cold at the bus stop), and then go on over to El Rio Grande just a few blocks from the school. I planned to get a few of the meat items that were on sale.
I found some surprise prices when I got there, so I ended up purchasing a little bit more than I planned to, but it was things that we were out of and I just hadn't found a good enough price on yet.
Here's what I got:
6 cups of ramen = $1 (I know they're horrible. I just like to keep a few on hand during sore throat season.)
3 packs taco seasoning @ $0.59 each
Decaf tea bags $2.99
Bread $0.99
5lbs. Beef Shank @$1.59/lb =$7.60
5 lbs. Pork Stew Meat @ $1.29/lb = $6.58
5lbs. Ground Beef @ $1.59/lb $8.53 (looks like they gave me a little more than the 5lbs I asked for! Either that or the price range up higher. I'll have to check..but we needed some anyway.)
5lbs Catfish Nuggets @ $1.19/lb $6.33
2 lunchmakers @ $0.99 each
Bananas @ $0.33/lb =1$1.05
Green beans at $0.99/lb =$2.83 (These were actually marked $1.19/lb! This was a surprise sale made even better at the register!)
White Potatoes $0.59/lb = $1.29
Small drink for my daughter $0.25
Total Spent =$43.21
With this and my Aldi trip, I've spent just under $80 for the week. That's a little bit over my budget, but I got a ton of meat with that, so I'm pleased! In fact, I've got an idea for a new shopping cooking plan that will allow for this in the budget. I'll share soon!

There are few really cheap things I like and Ramen is one of them. I think it is OK if in moderation. They are great for soar throats. Every once in a while I will eat one for lunch when I am craving them. Thanks for sharing your savings at Pounds4Pennies this week.
