Getting Organized: A Busy Week For Me!
I hope that everyone had a very awesome Christmas. We had a fun and relaxing day with some distant relatives who happen to live nearby.
And, now that the fun and relaxation has ended, the real fun begins.
Last week, my husband and I came up with a plan. You see, when we had baby number 2, his office got transformed into a nursery, and his desk got moved out into the garage. Now that winter is approaching (it hasn't actually gotten to Texas yet), and she is nearly 2 1/2, he decided that he would like to move his desk back into the house, so our girls will begin sharing a room.
However, there is *WAY* too much stuff between the two of our girls (I'm working on that, too!), to fit in one of our small bedrooms, so we've decided to convert the nursery into a playroom, and move the futon into there from our guest bedroom (we have a very small 4 bedroom house with minuscule closets, so we are always trying to find better uses for space). Then he is going to put his desk in the guest room.
We've planned out tackling a room everyday, so here is what our agenda for the week looks like:
Monday: Clean out guest bedroom.
- This is mostly going to involve pulling everything out of our junk closet. Some needs to be moved to the garage, and a lot of it is games and puzzles, which will get moved into the play room.
- This is going to involve taking apart and putting away the toddler bed/bedding, going through the toy boxes that are already in there (tossing anything broken), clearing off and clearing out closets, moving dressers, etc.
- This is going to involve moving some toys from this room into the newly cleared out playroom (including going through toy boxes--2 of them with puzzles dumped in the bottoms--oh joy!), rearranging some dressers, clothing, closets, etc.
- We all know our rooms are the last to get cleaned because nobody ever goes in there. I don't want to talk about it, but it must be done! LOL.
- This is going to be mostly a husband job, and my normal shopping day so I will likely be shopping with both girls to get them out of his way, but there will be a lot of things from in the house that need to be moved out there, and some things that need to be put back into the attic, like the Christmas tree, if we can find time to take it down.
- It seems that fall finally happened while we were out of town last week. With all the wind and storms, we came back to a blanket of leaves covering out backyard. While my husband did rake up a big pile for the girls to jump in, its going to take all of up out there to get yard looking normal again. I've also got some preparing the garden for winter (covering it with leaves and compost), and disposing of some dead potted plants that did not bounce back from our early freeze.
