Need A Little Advice About Children's Shoe Organization

At my house, we have a problem.  I have no idea where to keep my children's shoes.

You see, keeping them lined up along the floor isn't an option because we have two little mini dachshunds who absolutely adore chewing...on anything really, but shoes and My Little Pony's seem to be their favorites.  They've gotten a lot better, and we've gotten better at putting our shoes up high, but there is still a lack of space.

I LOVE those over the door shoe organizers, but our closet doors in the girls room are those sliding doors that fold in the middle, so that just won't work.

Since we are moving both girls into one room, I really need to find a solution to my "what to do with the shoes" problem.

We're tried putting them on top of dresser's and things but that tends to be very messy.  And 5 and 2 year olds aren't very good at returning their shoes to the proper place, so that is also a constant battle I fight.

If any of you have any tips for me, I'd love to hear them.  If you have written or know of any posts that have pictures, leave a link in the comments, please!

we had a dog that liked to chew shoes so we got some flat totes that slid under the bed and kept our shoes in those

Target or Walmart sells hanging shoe organizers (the top is literally a hanger). Since their shoes are little, a pair fits in each slot. I have 3 little boys and they love to put their shoes away since there's no need to be "near" about it. The slots that they can't reach, I store "seasonal" shoes and then rotate them out.

I finally gave up the battle with my 3 boys and their shoes. The younger two are 5 and (just) 4 and their shoes all get mixed up anyway. All 3 boys share one room (you can make this work - I promise) and there is a large bookcase in the room. My oldest uses the top shelves for stuff that the little ones aren't allowed to touch (he's 11). I went to Walmart or Target one day and got red plastic milk crate boxes. I put 2 on the bottom shelf of the bookcase and piled in the shoes. For us, both little boys are in one and the oldest has his own. Maybe you could do one for each girl or one for dress shoes and one for play shoes? Just measure your shelf before you shop. It's pretty easy for us now, whenever we see shoes they go in the bin and when a child asks where a shoe might be - send them to the bucket! Good Luck!

There are shoe organizers that hang from the clothes rod like this one from Target. http://www.target.com/p/Hanging-Shoe-Shelves-Pink-11-5-x-5-5-x-52/-/A-12776751#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink
Or you could just let them put them in a bottom dresser drawer.
Good luck, Aunt Peggy
