Shopping Trip: 6/1 Kroger and Albertson's
After taking a look at all of the best deals out there this week, and gathering up some coupons, I realized that a few of the coupons I wanted to use expired today. So, after I got my kids to bed, I grabbed my coupons and my shopping list and hit a couple stores.
The first place I went was Kroger. I shared the scenario I had come up with at the bottom of the post linked above. I was able to grab all of those few items, and a gallon of milk that I needed. I ran out early, and I don't really need anything else from Aldi this week, so I went ahead and got it there.
Here is everything I bought at Kroger:
Total Sale Price: $10.56
Price Paid After Coupons: $5.63 with tax 65% Savings
Now, you might be thinking that these few items did not warrant a special late night trip to the store. I would have to agree. However, since there were some really great deals (like FREE stuff) at Albertson's, and Albertson's is only a block from Kroger, I thought it would be worthwhile to hit them both while I was out. I also didn't want Albertson's to be out of the freebies!
Here is what I picked up there (see the linked post above for the coupons I used):
Total Shelf Price: $20.99
Total Sale Price: $11.36 (already 46% savings)
Price Paid After Coupons: $4.40 79% Savings
The only thing that wasn't already listed in my best deals post was the Totino's pizzas. They were on sale for $0.88 each and I used a $1 off 5 coupon (available in the 4/17 and 5/22 SS inserts) which made them just $0.68 each. I wasn't going to get them at all, but my husband and I have a bad case of late night pizza cravings, and right before I left this Pizza Hut commercial came on....so it was either $0.68 or $10 LOL. Not nearly as good, but it will have to do.
Incidentally, that middle pizza box is actually empty. My husband did not wish to wait for me to arrange them and snap a picture, so he sliced the back with his knife and slid the pizza out. It was actually baking, unbeknownst to me, when I snapped this shot.
All together I spent $10.03 tonight, and I had my husband stop by El Rio Grande on his way home and get 15 lbs of $1/lb ground beef and 10 lbs of $0.99/lb pork chops. With that included, we've spent roughly $35, half of our weekly budget.
I still plan to go to Save-A-Lot and Tom Thumb, so hopefully I can stay under budget.
How is your grocery shopping going? Have you found some good deals?

We make a quick run this morning for simular reasons. Walgreens to pick up Listerine pocketpack 2.99 with $2 RR so .99, and picked up the June coupon book. :D Then hubby went to Dollar Store for 3 cans of Beanee Weenees @ $1, 2 cans of Deviled Hams @ 1.60 and 2 Chicken Vienne Sausage @ .50 (working on restocking my hurrican prep box for the season) and David Sunflower seeds .50 after Q. I went to CVS for the FREE after XBucks Prep H wipes, but had to get a raincheck. The we went to Market Basket and scored .40 Parade 12-16oz canned veggies (corn, gr beans, mixed veg, hominy, field peas, chili beans, & sliced potatoes- limit of 10 so we each got a cart)and a few bags of frozen Parade veggies 3/$2. We also each picked up a rack of Baby back ribs 3.99/lb to satisfy our $10 purchase on the canned goods. One of those is already on the grill! :D And we got a raincheck for the 4 lb sugar @ 1.89. All short lists, but like yours, close together and everything was on sale, even if only a few had Qs. Came home to a ready to cook grill, hubby grilled a ribeye (from Krogers last sale) while I mixed up some coleslow, seasoned chicken I had marinating since last night (grilled it while we ate), then seasoned ribs, wrapped them in foil and put them on the grill to cook while we go nap! Lots of planned overs for the weekend. Time to relax and enjoy it! ;)
Sounds like you will be eating well =)
