Get a Few Free Samples of Your Own
Under the Free Samples Tab up top I have listed several places that keep an updated listing of free samples. I will try to post reminders to check these sites periodically, but they will always be up there for reference so you can check to see if there is anything new. I will make a new blog post whenever I find anything new listed.
Another good source recently for free product samples has been Facebook. If you have a facebook page, look up your favorite product brands and become their fan. The Ritz sample I received today was given out on facebook. I have also recieved many coupons both to print and by mail through facebook fan pages.
So there you have a couple of places to get you started receiving free samples in your own mailbox. I will post more later on, but if you want more now, click on the Free Samples link at the top of the page, or do an internet search for free samples. In the Mail
All of this great stuff came in my mail box TODAY!
Rachael Ray dog food sample, two samples of Prilosec (my husband has to take those and they aren't cheap so even a couple free doses helps), and some new Ritz Munchables that came with a $1 off coupon. Can't wait to try those.
I was so excited to get all of this stuff today, because I've had a pretty slow mail week, except for bills. =( But, I did get one more thing yesterday that is not pictured above. They remodeled the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market just down the road (its got just the groceries mainly), and we got a flyer in the mail inviting us to check it out. Glued to the flyer was a $5 gift card. =) Woohoo! Now what can I buy with that? I'm sure I can find something.

Tom Thumb Proctor & Gamble Promotion Starts 4/14
There is a promotion going on this week at Tom Thumb (starting tomorrow) where you can earn a $10 coupon at the register (catalina) when you purchase $25 worth of participating Proctor & Gamble products with your Tom Thumb Card.
I was a lot more excited about this deal until I saw that there was an asterisk which said that purchases exclude Tom Thumb Store Coupons, Loaded e-coupons, and Manufacturer Coupons. So, that being said, my understanding is that your total must come out to $25 after all of your coupons are deducted (and there are ALWAYS coupons for P&G products).
I still have a $30 gift card to use at Tom Thumb, and I need laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, etc., so I will likely take advantage of this deal. Not many of the prices of the products are listed in the ad though, so unless you truly need these products, don't make a special trip hoping for great deals. But, I say anytime you can get money or coupons back for things you were planning to buy anyway, that is a great deal.=)
I will keep an eye out for anything having to do with this sale that would make an excellent deal.

Read more...The Garden that Almost Wasn't
I was excited at first. Well, its not everyday my little city child gets to view wildlife close up. So I called her over to see it, and gently dug it back out with a stick. It wiggled and squirmed, and looked annoyed but not very menacing. Then my mommy brain kicked in. What kind of snake is this? I had no clue. It was small, not even a foot long, pencil thin, and brownish grey. What it poisonous? Where there more? I mean, this was a pretty small snake. What it if had just hatched? What if there was a whole nest of poisonous baby snakes in my garden. Yes, that very same garden that I am standing in at this very moment wearing no shoes!
I took a breath. I made Bethany go back in the grass. I called my grandpa. I thought surely he would know what kind it was, but sadly he did not. His advice was to dispose of the little critter, just to be safe.
After all of that excitement, I was a bit nervous about continuing with my planting. I did work up the courage to carry on. My daughter decided against helping me anymore, though. Things probably went quicker that way, and quick is good when there might be more snakes, I figured. In the end, I got all of the ones that had sprouted into the ground. There are a few stragglers that I am still hoping will grow, so I left some empty spots for them. Here's what it looked like after I watered it this morning. Nothing too exciting. My sprouts are barely visible. I'll try to take weekly pictures so you can watch it grow with me =).

My plan for tomorrow
My seeds have sprouted (most of them anyway). My garden rows are made. My coupons are clipped and organized (yes, on Sunday! woohoo!) New grocery ads won't come until Tuesday. So, what will I do with my Monday? My plan is to transplant my sprouts to my garden. I'll let you guys see the finished product, and then we will hope for the best. I've not had much luck with my garden in the past, but I'm trying some new plants this time. Hopefully they will work out. If not, at least my daughter had fun planting them. She loves to help pick stuff too. =)

You must purchase another (think small filler item) in order to use both coupons.

Today's Shopping Trip
I was not overly exicted when I received the grocery ads in my mailbox Tuesday morning. For the second week in a row, the sale prices seemed a bit, well, not really on sale. But, when I was sorting through my coupons I found something that disturbed me. I had $6 worth of Kroger catalina coupons that were expiring on 4/09. Why, that is today! I would not be able to save my $6 until next week when there will hopefully be a more couponer friendly ad. No, I must shop, and I must shop now! I needed to get a few things like milk and bread, so I skimmed through the ad and found a few things that I wanted to buy, and pulled out a few coupons to bring with me. I also decided that I would go to Tom Thumb and grab a few things also. I have a $30 gift card for that store, since I transferred one of my husbands prescriptions there. They had a few good things on sale, perhaps not the cheapest i had seen them, but pretty good. I went there first, and grabbed what I needed and went to the register. I handed her my coupons, paid and left, and then realized that I had not used my gift card. Grrrrrr!
These two trips today were not the best I've done by far, but they aren't too bad. If you are new to using coupons, you can see that even when the sales are not very good, you can still get pretty good deals if you match the prices up with coupons. Here is everything I got. The total was $17.58.
Here are my purchases from Tom Thumb. I spent $9.43 on this. Shelf price was $23.31 for 60% savings.
Here is what I got from Kroger for just $8.15. The Shelf price was $24.74 so I saved 68%

Seventh Generation Printable Coupons
Click here and register with Seventh Generation and you will be able to print several coupons for their products. The page says you may print each coupon up to two times during the promotional period, so it seems like their coupons will change periodically, so if you use these products regularly be sure to check back from time to time and see if they have anything new.
