Friday Must-Read Rewind

Here are a few articles that I really enjoyed reading this week:

• The importance of preparing for the unexpected!  This is something my family truly needs to work on, and as today is finally payday, we will be getting to work on that budget!
• The importance of setting goals.  This is also something my family needs to work on.  Setting manageable goals is actually what the first chapter of this blogger's new book is about.  Mine came last Friday (pre-ordered for FREE on Amazon using my Swagbucks.  As soon as I finished that chapter, I immediately took the book to my husband and said "I want you to read this with me!"  She's kicking off a series on setting goals, and I am very excited about it.
• The importance of not comparing yourself to "those couponers on TV".  All I have to say about this is AMEN, and go read it. =)

Friday Must-Read Rewind

Here are a few articles that I really enjoyed reading this week:

• Read about the amazing things that this blogger is using the money from her book for.  And if you'd like to order that book, and have all the proceeds go to this endeavor, you can buy it here!  I pre-ordered it a while back, and my copy should be in my hands by the time this posts!
• I think we've all seen, or at least heard about that TV show that was supposed to be about couponing, but people kept wondering if they were really watching hoarders...Let me just say that it does not make much sense to coupon and *not* have a stockpile (click the link to see why!), but most of us will want a sensible sized one.  This post will tell you how to accomplish just that!
• A few things to keep in mind about bloggers (especially if you are one!)
• A wonderful post about an online campaign that is attempting to get Mattel to create and market bald Barbie and GI Joe dolls to support childhood cancer.   Click over to read about the campaign, and what you can do to help make it happen.  I know that the 5th grade girl with Leukemia at my daughter's elementary would appreciate this greatly!

Friday Must-Read Rewind

It's the first Friday of the new year, and alot of the posts I've read, or seeked out to read, have had that first of the year encouragement to do well and keep going with what you are already doing well.

• Here is a great list of 7 things to do in the new year to simplify your life and make things run more smoothly.    I was encouraged by this post because I've either just done, or its on my list of tasks to accomplish, everything on that list--except for the bathroom cleaning baskets.  It is such a simple idea, and I really like it.  I'm just not convinced that it would not be too big of a toddler temptation. ;)
• Being frugal has everything to do with intentions
• How a friend saved $1200 in 10 minutes.
• I'm still working on making my personal and blogging plans for the year, and you all know I've been working a lot on organizing.  This a series that ran last year, and I caught the tail end of it, but I'm going to try to work it into my plans this year:  52 Weeks of Organizing

• Meal ideas from the pantry.  A great list if easy to put together meal ideas using things you likely already have!

• What you can expect to buy and stock up on at great prices after Christmas.

• Organizing Using Over The Door Shoe Racks   I *LOVE* this idea.  I wish my closet's didn't have sliding doors! =(

• A 6 year old's generosity.  This really brought tears to my eyes.

• Tips for taking care of real Christmas trees.  I've never had a real tree, but these tips make it seem like not such a hassle after all.
